Sarah’s baking journey started after graduating from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in journalism. Following a stint at Harvard University’s career services where she learned a desk job was not for her, she packed her bags and headed to Martha’s Vineyard to pursue her passion for baking at Morning Glory Farm. After a summer baking on the farm, Sarah headed to the renowned Flour Bakery in Boston, where she spent six years mastering various roles as a front-of-house member, baker, and pastry chef. She further expanded her expertise in the kitchens of Sarma and 3 Little Figs in Somerville, and Bagelsaurus in Cambridge, where she introduced her popular weekly Vinal Bakery pop-up, selling freshly baked English muffins.
Since 2019, Sarah and her husband, JonO, have been thrilled to share Vinal Bakery with the Somerville community in Union Square. Known for its delicious, handcrafted English muffins, sandwiches and a variety of New England pastries, Vinal Bakery embodies Sarah's love for local ingredients and time-honored traditions. In 2022, they expanded with the opening of Vinal General Store next door—a lively, “lunchier” sibling spot offering sandwiches, soft serve, beer & wine, and friendly faces. Just down the hill from where it all started on Vinal Ave, Sarah invites you to experience the warmth, flavors, and traditions of New England at Vinal Bakery.
